Stop multitasking so you can start focusing

Multitasking is the biggest hindrance to being focused. You can’t focus on one task if you have several tasks underway. Think about it. If you’re doing real estate prospecting, how can you draft an offer at the same time? Or if you’re door knocking, how will you handle client inquiries? In between doors? Multitasking will suck your energy and take away your focus. When you’re doing one thing, do it, and do it well. Focus on the task at hand instead of trying to do several at the same time.

Improve the quality of your work

When it comes to real estate, you have to stop multitasking so your quality of work improves. When was the last time you were trying to juggle two or more different transactional issues at the same time? You’ll find the quality of your work improves when you stop multitasking. When you tackle just one task at one time, whether it’s prospecting, writing an email to a client, working your advertising — you’ll accomplish the task with much better quality than if you tried to do several tasks all at once.

Multitasking isn’t really ‘multi’ tasking

If you really think about it, you’re not doing multiple tasks at once. You can only ever done one task at any given time. Instead, you’re simply cycling through different tasks. You can’t read this article and type an email at the same time. Even if you’re talking on the phone while reading this, you aren’t really focused. Multitasking isn’t multitasking. It’s doing a whole bunch of stuff at different intervals with the perception of it being the same time.
